Latest revision as of 13:39, 27 June 2021
TRW is part of a BBC code used to identify media, in which the first letter stands for the medium ("T" for "Tape" or "D" for "Disc") and the last two to the BBC centre: "RW" for Radiophonic Workshop, "LO" for London Broadcasting House, "BU" for Bush House (Overseas Broadcasting) and so on.
Apart from a re-numbering frenzy or two, the TRW numbers should be sequential and chronological, so TRW 4060 should be the first tape she baptised in the early days of the Workshop and TRW 7707 the last.
The following list of tape numbers and their contents is based on the BBC catalogue of the Radiophonic Workshop tapes: specifically, the items credited to Delia in an Excel spreadsheet from Mark Ayres called BBC Radiophonic Archive - surviving work and a more detailed PDF, called the Tape Library List, of all the tapes. Both are derived from the same Radiophonic Database.
To this we have added tape numbers mentioned in Delia's papers and a number of corrections which are recorded on the page User talk:MarkAyres.
At some point, a selection of Doctor Who-related tapes were renumbered from their original four-digit TRW numbers to numbers 600-660. The catalogue entries are, as far as I have checked, identical, and here we retain the original numbering. The Delia-related ones of these are:
TRW | TITLE | Renamed from |
---|---|---|
Doctor Who - Original Signature Tune | TRW 6002 | |
Doctor Who (Serials A, B & C): Beyond the Sun etc. | TRW 6029 | |
Doctor Who (Serial JJ): The Macra Terror (Music) | TRW 6604 | |
Doctor Who Signature Tune Version 2 | TRW 6645 | |
Doctor Who (open/close music - new version) | TRW 7114 | |
Doctor Who (closing music/2nd titles - new version) | TRW 7158 | |
Doctor Who New Signature Tune Record | TRW 7692 |
The Catalogue
In the following list, the original catalogue's fields "Series" and "Title" are elided to "Series: Title" for brevity, and we add a field for our best estimate of when Delia was working on the piece. You should find the references for these dates on the pieces' own pages.
